The Chroma 6210 series programmable DC power supplies incorporate modern power factor correction circuitry to increase the input power factor to more than 0.98. Other features include thermal shutdown, optional internal computer control (GPIB) and standard overvoltage protection (OVP). The Chroma 6210 can be used for R&D design characterization, production testing, and QA verification of commercial, industrial and aerospace electronic products.
Features
The Chroma 6210 series programmable DC power source features a built-in power factor correction circuit that provides input power factor of over 0.98 minimum for full load. This results in the reduction of the input current requirement and raises the efficiency to over 80%. An isolated interface is used to isolate analog remote programming controls for either output voltage or current to obtain full output power with lower noise and higher precision. The unit has 10-turn voltage and current controls that can vary the outputs from zero to the maximum rated values. Crossover from constant voltage to constant current operation occurs automatically when the load current exceeds the control settings. The current limit is also adjustable to allow it to be reached without having to short the output.
To obtain high density and precision, the 6210 series can utilise a remote controller via a IEEE-488 interface designed as a plug-in card to change the unit in seconds into a computer controlled system power source. To ensure safe operation all outputs are protected against overload and over-temperature damage and protection circuits prevent output voltage overshoot when supply is being switched on and off.
