Ideally suited to primary current injection, stability testing and circuit breaker testing, the PCU1 set provides output currents of up to 5000A. The set also includes a multi-function digital timing system, a true RMS digital ammeter and three output taps on both the 2000A and 5000A loading units for use with a number of different load impedances.
Features
The T&R Test Equipment PCU1 is a primary current injection system offering output currents up to 2000A. The system consists of a separate control unit containing all metering and control functions and a loading unit that provides the high current output. Both the PCU1-LT and PCU1-SP are ideally suited to primary current injection, stability testing and circuit breaker testing. The PCU1-SP can also perform secondary injection up to 100A and CT ratio/polarity testing. Two loading units are available, each having three output taps to allow for a wide range of load impedances. The system also features a digital true RMS memory ammeter and utilises solid state switching.
The PCU1 system has a high accuracy timing system allowing timing tests to be carried out to a resolution of 1ms. Timing modes are available to test under and over current devices, re-closers, under and over voltage devices, current trips and circuit breakers. Selection for normally open or normally closed contacts is automatic, and the status of the contacts is shown on the front panel. To ensure safe operation the system is protected by electronic trips on the outputs, circuit breakers on the mains input, control unit output and secondary injection output (PCU1-SP only). The unit also has a duty cycle trip on the loading unit output and the loading unit has comprehensive thermal protection.
